Salesforce.com Search Widget
Feb 22, 2006Yahoo! Widgets are tools that live on your desktop and allow you to get to information quickly.
Recently one was posted by an independent developer for searching inside salesforce. Just type in what you’re looking for and it automatically logs you into salesforce, returning the result set.
This free tool has been downloaded 395 times and has gotten good reviews. Give it a try and if it seems useful, forward it onto your team.

Anyone know what kind of security this widget practices? Is it storing an unencrypted password somewhere?

Looks like this is not available anymore :(

Yes Jess, the author seems to have removed the listing. Our super-secret sleuths are already tracking him/her down so we can make him/her put it back up.
May I offer this as consolation? Not as snazzy, but more useful and more secure IMHO.

Yes, I'm using the firefox plugin. But, it doesn't handle the autologin.

True Jess, but that makes it more secure - no unencrypted passwords for spyware/malware/viruses to snoop on. And once you're signed in, it's a very transparent experience.

Here is a new one, the Opportunity Knocks Yahoo Widget for Salesforce. It’s now available at our site and in the Yahoo! Widget Gallery. In less than two days, there have been over 350 downloads. Its got great ratings and several customers are using it, Borland even discussed in their dreamforce preso.
