Winter ’07 Upgrade Schedule

Jamie Grenney Dec 28, 2006

Over the first two weekends in January, salesforce.com will be rolling out the exciting new Winter ’07 release. In order to ensure the highest performance with the release, we’ll be upgrading our servers on a rolling basis. Want to know when you’ll get your hands on all the popularly requested features? Follow these steps:

1. Log in to Salesforce.com as you normally do.

2. Look at the address bar—your server name is located in the area circled in red.

Servername_2

3. Next, visit http://trust.salesforce.com to view the upgrade schedule for your server.

Your updated chart is incorrect. It lists all North American servers as "na0" instead of na1, na2, etc...

Good catch, it's fixed now...

Will this release include the new APEX programming language and the possibility to add triggers into the database?

If not, do you have a schedule for this release?

Thank you

The Winter 07 release does not include the Apex language. However, the Apex language beta program will be available for DE orgs starting later this month. Developers can sign up for the program starting on Apex Day (Jan 16).

What about the SSL server instance?

As far as user interface... With the winter '06 release, I, as an administrator, had the ability to keep our "classic" look or adopt (and administer) the newer release look. Will the same choice be available to us for the winter '07 release? Will that also be the case with other elemtns and new features?

Adding a new account no longer appears on the left margin in the 'Home' view? After searching for an account I would simply add one using the drop down menu below the search field. Now it is gone?

Also, I am unable to add/edit accounts or opportunities at this time.
I am on na1 and it is after the release update completion time in the table. Is the upgrade running later than anticipated?
Thanks.

We use Salesforce on two computers at the office. One of them seems to be working fine (post-upgrade), but on my computer when I click on an account or contact, there's a black fill so you can't read any of the text. Both of our computers are using IE6.

Prior to this upgrade, users of our customer support website were able to authenticate against their SalesForce Contact credentials via our WSDL interface. However, following this weekend's upgrade, all such authenticates are now broken.

Perhaps you can offer an explanation of what kinds of upgrades were performed and hazard a guess at what might have changed/broken the WSDL interface?

Thanks.

Where can we get a list of new features included in this rollout?

Jim--you can keep the classic look: 1. Click on:

Setup | App Setup | Customize | User Interface.

2. Use the drop down list to select either "Salesforce" or "Salesforce Classic".

Bill--There might be one of several things happening. First, you need to expand the collapsable sidebar in winter '07--look for the little arrow on the left side. The Create New list depends on which tabs you have displaying as default, so if accounts aren't one of your default tabs they won't show up on your Create New list.

Joel--new features are posted in the Winter '07 feature guide found at http://blogs.salesforce.com/features/winter_07_release/index.html

I'm looking at answers to the other questions.

Please note that this is an organization-wide setting. All users will see the same User Interface.

a) What about the server name "ssl", which is not on your list?
b) You never answered Joel's question about where to get a list of the new features in this release. I found the release notes, but they're 213 pages. I'd like a concise list, please.
Thank you.

Randy--
SSL will be updated this weekend.

To clarify re: Joel's question, I pointed him to the Feature detail pages on successforce, where we give a quick rundown of what's new in Winter '07. It's a little more efficient than the 217 page release notes: http://blogs.salesforce.com/features/winter_07_release/index.html

Has something changed with the behavior of the custom links? It seems any custom links which redirect users to a custom tab are now resulting in a different and new sessionID. This was not the case prior to this upgrade.
