Spring_08_rgb_2 Salesforce.com's Spring '08 release is just around the corner, so we wanted to highlight some of the exciting new features you can expect from our force.com platform and SaaS applications. If you haven't done so already, be sure to check out the Spring '08 preview and the feature detail pages. And if you're curious about when you'll see these changes in your org, keep checking trust.salesforce.com for the latest release schedule.

Force.com – Platform as a Service:

  • Apex Code in Enterprise Edition: With Spring ’08, our force.com platform is now more widely accessible with the inclusion of Apex Code in Salesforce Enterprise Edition. Enterprises of all sizes can now customize and build applications using the power of Apex Code.
  • Metadata API: Enterprise Edition customers will also now gain access to our new Metadata API functionality and each receive their own Sandbox development environment which they can use to migrate and test development efforts performed outside of their production orgs.
  • Apex Code Packaging: Also with Spring ’08, customers and partners can now package and publish Apex Code to the AppExchange - further broadening the accessibility of Apex Code and the power of Force.com.

Software as a Service Applications:

  • Our two new community applications, Salesforce Content and Salesforce Ideas are now generally available and ready to deliver even more collaboration success to your communities.  With these two new applications you will be able to leverage the wisdom of crowds and benefit from the best ideas and content from your communities being bubbled to the top.
  • Dashboard Scheduling: With Spring ’08, authorized users will be able to schedule dashboard refreshes automatically and choose if and when to have dashboards emailed to a set of users.
  • Email-to-Case Workflow: Case status can be updated automatically when a customer sends you an email.  With email-triggered workflow, agents will need fewer clicks to do their jobs, and your customers will benefit from faster service and more timely information about their cases.
  • Next Generation Partner Portal: With the Next Generation partner portal, customers can provide all of the benefits of the Force.com platform for their partners, including s-controls, Web tabs, and the unlimited interface design capabilities of Visualforce.
