Customizable Forecasting
Winter ’06 adds new customizable forecasting capabilities to
Salesforce, offering customers the ability to forecast product unit
quantities by individual product families. With this new capability, an
organization can effectively use its sales forecast to assist with
resource planning and other supply chain management decisions. With
customizable forecasting, users get all of benefits of Salesforce’s
previous forecasting capabilities, plus several new features.

available in professional, enterprise, and unlimited edition.

- Forecast Product Quantities: Sales managers can forecast expected product units, in addition to revenue, at the opportunity, opportunity product, or schedule level. Managers can break out product unit forecasts by different time periods and product families.
- Forecasting by Territory: Winter ’06 integrates real-time forecasting with new territory management functionality. This combination enables sales managers to forecast revenue and product quantities by territory.
- Custom Fiscal Year Forecasting: Forecasting periods can be defined for virtually any time period that a company requires.
- Product Quantity Quotas: Forecast quotas in Winter ’06 can be set for product units by product family and time period for each sales representative.
- Manager Overrides for Quantities: Managers can override their subordinates’ forecasted product quantity data, in addition to revenue, at the individual deal level or at the aggregate level. These overrides are hidden from subordinates and do not change actual opportunity values.
- Real-Time Forecasts: As with all Salesforce analytic, reporting, and forecasting capabilities, Winter ’06 includes real-time analysis of all forecasting data. Forecasting data is completely dynamic and updates automatically as reps change their opportunities.
