• Home Page Layout: As an administrator, you can design the home page that your users see when they log in. You can set up different layouts for each user profile, selecting from different components and determining their placement. Home page components include existing items such as calendar, tasks, and search as well as some new items outlined below.

• Dashboard Snapshot: Dashboards were one of the most popular new features in the Winter ’04 release, and with the customizable home tab, a user can now choose a specific dashboard snapshot for her home page so that she is always focused on her key metrics. An administrator must first enable dashboard snapshots as a home page component for the appropriate user profiles.

• Solution, Document, or Product Search: You can now include the ability to search for solutions, documents, or products right from the home page. If your company depends on salesforce.com for customer support, for example, your users may appreciate the convenience of having a solution search box on the home page.

• Web Links: In addition to the standard set of links on the home page (currently part of the messages and alerts section), you can now add different sets of links for different profiles. For example, you can add links to relevant intranet pages for certain user profiles.

• Company Logos and Images: You can now include your company logo or other images on the home page (e.g., an award logo or a photo of the site of your upcoming President’s Club). No administrative action is required during or immediately after the release. All users will continue to see the default salesforce.com home page until an administrator creates new home page layouts and assigns them to user profiles.
