architecture deployed across three North American facilities. A new,
secure production facility in San Jose will provide world-class
performance and reliability to Salesforce customers. Real-time data
mirroring to our replica back-up facility in Northern Virginia
guarantees data integrity and service delivery. A new production-scale
lab facility and tape archive in San Francisco increases the
operational efficiency of salesforce.com's development organization
while assuring customers of the secure custody of data backup tapes.

- Disaster Recovery: Full data mirroring between the production and backup facilities provides Salesforce with an industry-leading disaster recovery infrastructure. In the event of a regional event that impacts our production facility, salesforce.com can transition all customers to the replica backup facility almost immediately, with minimum impact to the user experience.
- Network Backbone: A new high performance and redundant OC-48 network infrastructure connects all three facilities and delivers lightning-fast performance to customers around the world. Redundancy of network connectivity is guaranteed through dual network carrier vendors.
- Trusted Security: Customer data is protected by world-class facilities, network, and application security. High speed network connectivity between facilities allows for secure point-to-point data replication. This highly secure data backup approach eliminates the need for the risky alternative of physical transportation of data backup tapes. With Salesforce’s enhanced data center architecture, backup tapes never leave our San Francisco lab and tape archive facility.
