Salesforce Features

Offline Edition 2.0

Offlineedition_1 Since its introduction, Salesforce users have relied on Offline Edition to manage their customer data when working without Internet connectivity. Offline Edition 2.0 expands this capability by allowing users to capture and manage leads in the field. Offline Edition 2.0 also leverages custom objects with support for master-detail custom related lists offline. It also facilitates user adoption by automating the onerous task of conflict resolution. Finally, the new architecture of Offline Edition allows users to carry more data with them and ensures that the information will be safe in the event that an unauthorized user gains access to the computer.

This feature is included in enterprise editions and unlimited edition. It is as an avaliable upgrade in professional edition.

You would THINK it would be part of ANY Edition (Such as the TEAM edition) considering that online data without offline access is a real inconcenience and for extended periods can be crippling.

What is really annoying is to receive an email about our current edition telling me this feature is an available upgrade. My boss read it and of course wanted to know why it hadn't been implemented. It doesnt mention anywhere in the email that it is ONLY available if we upgrade our software to a different edition. Unfortunately it simply isnt cost effective in such a small market for us but truly this is one of the things that I believe should be bundled into any of the editions. It's bad enough there are so few plugins created for the small business version of this software.

Paul with Team Edition you can use the free Outlook plug-in to synch your contacts so they are available. You can also export data to excel which is another option.

Offline Edition is a great product but it requires development resources to build and extra support costs so that's why it's not included with our entry level product (Team Edition).

I agree with paul. I'm also upset because my sales rep told me that the feature was available, so I agreed to try it out. But now I realize that my reps (who are in the field all day) won't have access to the offline edition.

Offline edition is so important for the small business indeed. Most other providers such as Siebel, Netsuite, Entellium and Salesboom offer it as a plugin for all editions.

When will a version of the offline client be available for Vista?

In our organisation it is the reps on the road who usually handle the first phase of a case but Cases are not accessible off-line and reps are often not able to log on to the internet when travelling. This is a huge omission.
