Winter ’07 introduces support for Windows Mobile 5.0, in addition to BlackBerry and Palm operating systems. Users with Windows Mobile devices can now enjoy full access to Salesforce, including live data access, search and email, and phone integration. For BlackBerry and Treo devices, the calendar interface is more user-friendly, and users have the ability to reassign their leads and other data to colleagues. Other significant enhancements make deployment and administration of your mobile rollout much easier.

This feature is available in Professional, Enterprise, and Unlimited Editions.

  • Windows Mobile Overview: Full read/write/edit/delete support for standard and custom objects. Familiar Salesforce tab layout. Dynamic menus to display related items. Search data stored remotely on the server. Send emails and place phone calls directly from a Salesforce record. Direct users for technical support contact info.
  • Windows Mobile 5.0 Support: The following device/carrier combinations are certified by Apex Mobile:
    • Alltel Treo 700wx
    • Cingular 8125
    • Cingular 8525
    • Cingular Treo 700w
    • Cingular Treo 750
    • Sprint Treo 700wx
    • Verizon Treo 700w
  • BlackBerry and Treo Enhancements: An improved, calendar-like event interface allows easy scrolling through scheduled events in a day, week, month, or list view. Users can reassign leads or opportunities on the road by using the change owner option.
  • Deployment and Administration: You can access the Apex Mobile admin console from within Salesforce for easy administration. The device type is gathered automatically upon user registration using auto-discovery. For BlackBerry devices, the connection parameters are auto-detected and the install is adjusted accordingly. Users can initiate a download using a simple URL. Device requirements will be checked to ensure smooth installation.
  • Support for UMTS Network: All the European and Asian devices can be deployed over the air, along with the previously supported networks (GPRS, EDGE, CDMA, EVDO, and iDEN).
