Feature Details

  • Administration Tools: Setting up new partners, users, permissions, and visibility rules is easier than ever with Winter ’07:
    • Turn any account into a partner by clicking the button: Enable as Partner. You can enable partner portal login access for contacts at partner accounts by clicking the Enable Partner Portal Login button.
    • Channel-specific roles are automatically created for each partner and are associated with their authorized users. All channel roles roll up to that partner’s channel manager role to provide greater visibility.
    • Share information securely and easily with partners by using the new system-defined “All Partner Users” public group. Use this setting when defining sharing rules or manual sharing.
  • Tiered Partner Profiles: Does your company have a tiered channel program with different go-to-market strategies for each tier? You can set up multiple partner profilesfor example, Gold, Silver, and Bronze—as a way to provide different portal capabilities and access levels to different tiers of partners.
  • Login as Portal User: Channel managers can log in as any partner portal user in order to test visibility settings and troubleshoot issues. Clicking on the Log in as Partner Portal User button in the contacts view will open the partner portal in a separate window, with that partner user automatically logged in.

Global Partner Enhancements: With Winter ’07, you can extend your PRM success to partners in more regions and languages. In addition to the languages supported by Salesforce, the partner portal supports the following additional languages: Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Russian, and Turkish. The portal now also converts currency values to the currency preference set by the partner user.

As a distributor for several product lines we have to report sales funnel information weekly to the companies we represent. This is currently a manual reporting process. Does PRM allow partners to run specific reports? We are an enterprise users, is PRM an extra cost?

For the upcoming Winter 07 release, Partners cannot run reports from the portal. However, this feature is high on the product roadmap so look to future releases to have this feature. As regards pricing, the Partner Edition license is available for EE and above customers. There is an additional price for the partner portal but many other partner account management features available in the app are free. Please contact your Account Executive for a more thorough pricing discussion.

On a side note, one feature that might be of particular interest to you is the ability for a partner who works with many vendors to have a consolidated view of vendor programs, leads/opportunities etc. With this feature, a partner would have access to the partner portals as well as work leads etc right from their own salesforce.com instance. This would prevent the partner from having to remember multiple logins and double entry of lead/opportunity information. I would love to hear from our customers and their partners on specific requirements around this feature, so shoot away!!

Can we customize list views for Leads, Opportunities and custom objects in the Winter Release of PRM? Also, can we customize the search results in the winter release as well inside the PRM portal?

You can customize all list views, search results and custom objects in the portal with Winter 07.
