Is the Spring release out yet?

I want to add Outlook e-mails to lead info, but don't see this feature - it only does accounts & apportunities.

I am very interested in this feature. Also wondering what is "limited release"? Will this work with person accounts?

If you read the docs linked to above you will see that

1) it doesn't work for person accounts

2) limited release means you have to request this edition from your salesforce salesperson

3) You can add Outlook emails to lead info - I haven't actually verified this in the app, waiting to see if I can be given access!

It is difficult when adding an email to outlook if there are multiple records of the same email address in Salesforce. Our sales team keeps records of the same contact. When adding an email, we are unable to tell which contact to add the email to because there are no owner names attached to the contact record. Can we expect a change with this in the release? Either the owner name listed, or the option to only display contacts with a specific owner...

This still does not allow me to associate the email with all of the contacts that the email is being sent to.

And, as far as I can tell.... no SalesForce/Outlook add-in works with Outlook 2007 (which is now installed on my machine).

Happy to see the activity in this forum. To respond to some of the questions above on the Outlook Edition 3.0 release:
- It will include the capability to Add Email and 'Relate' the email to Leads and other SFDC objects, including custom objects.
- Limited Release means Outlook Edition 3.0 will be available as a pre-release to customers who request it from their Salesforce representative.
- Availability will begin end of March 2007, and is not restricted: all requesting customers can have access.
- Support for Person Accounts will be included in our Summer '07 release.
- Unfortunately adding email to multiple records (e.g. everyone in the To: and Cc: fields of the email) is not supported in this release.
- It will support Office 2007 and Vista.

Anyone having problems syncing with Vista? I bought a new high end laptop with Vista for Business on it, installed Outlook 2.0, and I have yet to get a clean sync with sf.com. Outlook 2007 ends up auto-recyling itself and killing the sync thread, every time. Help?

Re: e-mail relaying and ability to "avoid the appearance of email spoofing", does this mean that email messages sent in this way are less likely to be treated as spam?

What about upgrading from Outlook Edition 2.0? Will all the contacts be downloaded again, or is the synchronisation mechanism the same? Is it recommended 2.0 users upgrade? Also why do the User and Admin tip sheets make reference to Outlook Edition 3.0, hasn't the name changed?

I'm happy to announce that we're now in Limited Release for this product (As of March 31, 2007). You may contact your sales representative if you would like access.
To the posters above using Vista and Office07: the version made available with the Limited Release is the first version that supports Vista and Office07 - I recommend getting access to this version if you are using the latest Microsoft tools.

Does anyone know if the sync function has been improved? Specifically: Better support for standby mode, fewer problems with calendar syncs for multi-day Outlook events... I don't see much in the release notes along these lines.

Is anyone else using Vista/Outlook 2007 experiencing a crash every time the sync starts comparing records? It's frustrating not to be able to sync on OE3.

Great being able to upload attachements.

Pitty that it is still not possible to sync the privacy flag in events. I want personal events in Outlook also to be uploaded in SalesForce, so our planning department can see when I am not available. I just don't need them (nor other collegues to see what the details are).

Using IMAP email the plugin has problems with the sent folder. Office 2007 allows the user to choose a sent folder on the IMAP server instead of the local Outlook sent folder.

When sending mail through Outlook sent messages are copied to this IMAP folder the user chooses. However sending mail through OE3 copies the sent mail to the standard local Outlook Sent folder.

Additionaly when clicking "Add Email" on a email in the assigned IMAP sent folder OE3 does not recognize this as a sent folder like it does the local Outlook sent folder. Hence it searches the sender (me) istead of the recipient for association.

As of now OE3 does not work for IMAP mail users that have their Sent folders stored on ther server itself.

It's now June, where can I download the 3.0 version? Salesforce Outlook edition 2.0 doesn't integrate very well with Outlook 2007.

I have installed Outlook Edition 3 in Outlook 2007 on Vista, see it in Tools > Trust Center > Add-ins, but the SF toolbar is nowhere to be found. It is not in Customize > Toolbars. How do I find it or make it active?

Is there any plan to create a generic desktop client proxy that users can modify for their specific shop that will allow the Outlook 3.0 plug-in and SSO to work together? Right now I am faced with pulling people off SSO to utilize Outlook 3.0 because development resources are tight.
