Force.com Toolkit for Eclipse

A Full-Featured, Integrated Development Environment for Force.com

Eclipse_thumb Developer Edition

  • Develop Force.com applications in a collaborative development environment
  • Migrate configuration data between Salesforce instances

With the Force.com Toolkit for Eclipse, developers can use the popular Eclipse IDE (integrated development environment) to build and deploy on-demand applications. Using this powerful environment to manage collaborative development, multiple deployment environments, and source control, developers can work faster and more efficiently.

  • Code Editing: Use the full power of the Eclipse code-editing tools to create, edit, and test your Apex code, including syntax and error highlighting and test suite execution. sControls and Visualforce pages can also be edited.
  • XML Metadata Editing: Thanks to the Force.com Metadata API, you can now edit the XML representations of custom objects, custom fields, and other application metadata elements directly in Eclipse. This solution gives you the best of both worlds: administrators can use the point-and-click tools in Setup, and developers can edit the same elements as XML in Eclipse. You can edit XML metadata either in source code form with syntax highlighting, or in a collapsible XML design format, or switch back and forth between the two.
  • Version Control Support: Multi-developer teams can collaborate on Force.com projects more effectively by using the Eclipse native source control capabilities when editing, tracking, and deploying changes to Salesforce, whether the changes are in Apex, sControls, Visualforce pages, or XML metadata.
  • Deployment to Production: Use a wizard-based process to migrate your Apex code and metadata changes between Force.com Sandbox, Salesforce Developer Edition, and production environments.
