Accurate forecasting is critical to lowering an organization’s forecasting variance and providing complete sales visibility. The forecasting categories used to segment sales data are often unique to each individual organization. The ability to customize opportunity forecasting categories with Spring ’08 allows an organization’s forecasting methodologies in Salesforce to mirror the business, avoiding internal confusion.
An administrator can customize the forecast category field on opportunities associated with the existing, standard forecasting category values—closed, commit, best case, pipeline, and omitted—to align with the organization’s sales forecasting methodology.
Note: This feature is enabled by default but requires administrator customization in the set up area of Salesforce.
