  • Structure how publishers define content and users access it
  • Align custom content categorization with different business needs
  • Avoid unnecessary complexity in content categorization

Some companies want a more hierarchical, structured content categorization system to supplement the tag-based model. With custom fields and multiple content types, the Spring ’08 release of Salesforce Content provides new levels of flexibility to organize content so administrators can precisely match the demands of the business. With this new content structure, it’s easier for publishers and users alike to share and find content on a day-to-day basis.

  • Multiple Content Types: Create multiple content types instead of being limited to one general type across all documents. Limit the use of custom fields to only those materials to which they are applicable, instead of every document in your repository.
  • Content Types by Workspace: Specify which content types are allowed in each workspace to avoid unnecessary complexity that confuses end users and publishers alike.

Note: Salesforce Content is a fee-based license option that is available for Professional, Enterprise, and Unlimited Edition customers. It is available in English only. You can license Salesforce Content for existing Salesforce CRM or Platform Edition subscribers as well as for individuals who do not currently have a Salesforce license.
