With Spring ’07, new workflow functionality allows you to automate and manage your business processes with greater efficiency. In the new release, the Apex platform can trigger workflow based on time—either a time that has passed or a time that is approaching. Time-dependent actions can be based on any date/date time field on a record. In addition, you can use the new time-based workflow functionality along with field update functionality from the Winter ’07 release to automate and manage your business processes with new levels of efficiency.

With the last release (Winter ’07), salesforce.com pushed the envelope on business process enablement in an on-demand environment with powerful new features for workflow and approvals. Spring ’07 brings additional approval functionality with the ability to approve or reject requests and even add comments by email, an especially useful feature for heavy users of BlackBerries and other mobile email devices.
This feature is disabled by default but can be enabled by the organization’s salesforce.com administrator.

With Winter ’07, Apex
pushes the envelope on business process enablement in an on-demand environment.
Your workflow rules can now act on records and change field values, enabling
new levels of process automation, control, and consistency. Workflow also
supports outbound messages to enable real-time
integration to external systems. Winter ’07 introduces a flexible approvals
engine, which allows you to build single-step or multistep approval processes
on virtually any standard or custom object.
