Salesforce Mobile - the only on demand mobile platform

Larry Robinson Feb 20, 2008

It doesn't take much research into Mobile platforms to realize that Salesforce.com has built something quite unique.  Many Mobile platforms require that specific client versions be created to support specific business processes.  That is all very well, but Salesforce.com customers are very used to just adding a field here or creating a custom object there and continually improving their business process.  This luxury is one of the key differentiators for Salesforce.com and a big reason customers choose to go with Salesforce.com for their CRM implementation.

Unfortunately, many Mobile platforms just can't deliver the same flexibility that customers have come to expect from their CRM platform.  Yes, we have spoiled you, haven't we?   The good news is that Salesforce Mobile is built to fit perfectly with the Salesforce.com platform in every way.  This means that modifying your CRM business processes DOES NOT require you to build a new Mobile Client and deploy this new software to hundreds of users.  Salesforce Mobile is capable of automatically recognizing when you add a new field, or custom object and can automatically deploy those changes to the Salesforce Mobile Client without any Client code changes.  It's pretty amazing if you think about it.

Our last two releases of Salesforce Mobile has fully integrated the Mobile Administration Console directly into your Salesforce Setup, so you can point-and-click your way to mobilizing new objects, new fields and new business processes without writing any code at all.

Did you know that all Unlimited Edition licenses include Salesforce Mobile Licenses for all users?  And, customers on Enterprise Edition or Professional Edition can easily add this capability for some or all of their users.

Any chance the Fields Exclusion module of the configurator will be enanced? It will be much more useful to have ability to Include OR Exclude. For example, some formatted fields like hyperlinks display the HTML on the Blackberry so you give a good option to Exclude them but no Option to 'Include' an alternate field unless the duplicate also gets added to the page layout in Salesforce UI.
