Updates on Salesforce Mobile for iPhone
Jul 14, 2008
Salesforce Mobile for iPhone is a popular application already!
Salesforce Mobile version 1.0 for iPhone is a out on App Store and there is considerable interest. The users that are Salesforce Mobile enabled (they have Mobile licenses) are enthusiastic about the application. Fast access to relevant data and streamlined user interface seem to get the users excited.
Salesforce Mobile does require a Salesforce license!
Some people have complained about not being able to activate the device. It is actually an interesting phenomenon. Many of the consumer people that have purchased iPhones are currently not Salesforce users and may not be seeing the Application Description detailing the requirement for a Salesforce license in order to user the Salesforce Mobile application. For these people, Salesforce does offer 30 day free trials for any user that is interested to try Salesforce and the trial includes Mobile. An additional area of confusion is that Salesforce Mobile for iPhone application is listed for 'Free' on the App Store. The client in fact Free for download but would only be valuable to someone with a Salesforce Mobile user license. Yes…this is a bit confusing however, we do not intend to charge for the iPhone specific client. A clearer solution would be the option to list the Salesforce Mobile client as "License Required" as opposed to Free and we are hoping this request could be accommodated in the future.
Is it going to be read-only forever?
In just two word: absolutely not! This is the very first release of the client, developed in a short time on an exciting new, SDK. Salesforce is excited about having released a client upon the App Store launch and looks forward to future releases.
Moving forward, we aim to provide users with the features they need on the road and will be watching the blogs and gathering customer feedback. Additionally, we are very excited about the opportunity to integrate with the iPhone powerful browser capabilities.
How do I stay up to date?
Stay tuned to this blog and/or App Store for the latest releases. Remember to check frequently for updates of all your iPhone applications on App Store!
