Salesforce CRM Mobile for BlackBerry client v11.0.3 is available for download!
Pierpaolo Bergamo Feb 4, 2009What are the fixes in BlackBerry v11.0.3?
- Edit and Mandatory Fields - The client used to submit mandatory fields even when unchanged. This could potentially result in truncation of some data. The latest version of the client submits only the changed fields.
- New Activities and Name Field - When creating a new activity from the Open Activities or Activity History relates lists, the Name field was not automatically populated in the new record. The latest version fixes this problem.
- Exporting Contacts to the Native Contact Application - An empty contact record was exported from Salesforce CRM Mobile to the device's native Contact application even when all the required fields were not populated. v11.0.3 does not export the contact record in such cases.
- Case History and Missing Fields - Old Value and New Value fields were not displayed in Case History. The client now shows the fields correctly.
How do I get the new client for my Blackberry phone?
- For users that have never installed the application before, they can navigate to the following URL from a mobile device: http://mobile.salesforce.com/setup.
- For users on v10.0.0 or greater, upgrade by opening the System Info page and selecting Upgrade from the menu (or use the URL http://mobile.salesforce.com/setup).
- For users on v9 or older, do not use the usual URL. Please use this URL on your device instead:
http://mobile.salesforce.com/console/loader/
Client versions 9.0 and earlier do not support the new upgrade process. It is necessary to download the 'legacy' loader that uninstalls the older version for the application. This does not impact users that have the application installed via BES Push or self-hosted binaries (JAD package).
Read the Salesforce Mobile User Guide for BlackBerry for more information about how to use the client application on BlackBerry smartphones.

Salesforce CRM Mobile v10.0 for Windows Mobile is now available for download!
Pierpaolo Bergamo Feb 3, 2009Spring '09 brings new features and restyled user interface on Windows Mobile!
With Spring '09, the Windows Mobile client arrives at the v10 milestone and provides a much better user experience for detail pages. Let's have a look at the top two user interface changes:

- The related items are now on the detail page, just like on the Salesforce website! It's quicker to access and easier to find!
- The labels of the fields and the data are now 'center-aligned' for easier reading.
What are the other features?- Related Records Search ('Find More' Button) - On a standard mobile device, users may not have all the items related to a particular record. The Related Records Search feature for Windows Mobile lets users find related records with a Find More button. After the user clicks the button, the client retrieves the full list of related records available on the server. Users can then select any of these records and see them on the mobile device.
- Contact Roles - Streamlines the process of identifying key stakeholders in opportunity and account records. Instead of sifting through the details of a record, the Contact Roles feature displays a related list of relevant contacts and their roles. A single click on the contact’s name reveals key information and click-to-call or email capabilities. This feature is especially
helpful when you’re trying to look up information on the go.
Note: This feature must be enabled by the administrator.

One-click installation for BlackBerry!
Pierpaolo Bergamo Feb 3, 2009BlackBerry installation is now a one-step process!
With Spring '09, the installation and upgrade of the BlackBerry client is a one step process! To get the latest client, download it by navigating to the following URL in your BlackBerry browser:
http://mobile.salesforce.com/setup
The download of the loader is no longer required! This new process dramatically improves the user experience.
Note: This is a server-side change. There is no major BlackBerry client release in Spring '09.
