Emailing Reports and Dashboards: Change in behavior for portal customers
Adi Kuruganti Feb 26, 2009With Spring '09, the product team has added a new setup permission that allows customers to email reports and dashboards to portal users. This includes both customer and partner portal users. This change was introduced as a by-product of security enhancements to the application and based on feedback from our customers. Here are some additional details on this change:
What is the change?
New setup feature: 'Allow Reports and Dashboards to be Sent to Portal Users' has been added that is by default unchecked. By default only internal users will be sent emails with reports and dashboards. If customers would like their portal users to receive these emails as well then this setup option needs to be checked
Impact to existing portal customers
Customers who have been sending Reports and Dashboards to their portal users (customer or partner portal) will find that these emails are not being sent after the Spring '09 release. The 'Allow Reports and Dashboards to be Sent to Portal Users' option needs to be checked before portal users can start receiving the emails
Enabling the setup option
1) Go to: Setup| App Setup| Customize| User Interface
2) Check the ''Allow Reports and Dashboards to be Sent to Portal Users' option. By default it is unchecked (only internal users get the emailed reports and dashboards if this option is unchecked)
If customers have any questions they should contact their Premier Support Representative or Customer Success Manager.

Reporting on Accounts Owned by my Channel Partners
Elay Cohen Jun 10, 2008Recently, I have been asked: "Elay, how do I run a report in salesforce showing me accounts owned by my partner users?" Hmmm, I thought, this should be an easy thing to do. It is once you understand custom report types. Let me explain.
1. Create a custom report type based on the Accounts objects. To create a custom report go to Set up > Create > Report Types. Don't join the accounts object with any other one in this custom report type.
2. Edit the layout in the section called Fields Available for Reports at the bottom of the Custom Report Type
3. On the drill down of the edit, select the add fields related via look up link. This will let you add user type to the page layout of this custom report type. (refer to the image below to show you where to look for this link, it took me a while to find it) Hey Tom, maybe you should make the link a bit more obvious. :):)
4. Then, run a report using this new custom report type and add in the filter partner user.
This will surely help you drive more channel sales and channel marketing improvement in your businesses. For more information on Salesforce Partners or any of our tools designed to drive greater channel revenues visit the main Salesforce Partners website. Special thanks to Andrew O'Driscoll from Apprivo for showing me the light.

PRM lead reporting tools for channel managers
Elay Cohen Jan 30, 2007With the Winter 07 release, there is a new feature designed specifically for partner relationship management (PRM) that is available to all Enterprise and Unlimited Edition customers. This feature enables channel managers to group their partners' deal data by partner account. Channel managers can also now easily filter data using the "PARTNER ACCOUNT" field too. It's easy just select the field in the filter criteria of any lead or opportunity report and leave and say does not equal...and leave the value blank.
We've created a sample dashboard with some reports to get you started. Click on the link and install and see how you can start tracking your partner leads inside of salesforce.com
